I believe acting is very physical and when you have to fight or do those kinds of things it takes a lot of respect not to allow yourself to go off and hurt yourself or someone else.
I have so much respect for people in the theater. You can't do 10 or 15 takes. It's all live. It's like life in motion.
That's the most important thing to me - that if I'm gonna spend however long it takes to make a movie give up 14 hours a day for however many weeks or months then it's very important for me to know that I'm working with people who I respect and enjoy and that we're going for something together.
I respect and empathize with reporters and editors who must compete in today's environment. And I know full well that when I've been covering campaigns which I still do I've made my mistakes and have been far from perfect.
In all the antique religions mythology takes the place of dogma that is the sacred lore of priests and people... and these stories afford the only explanation that is offered of the precepts of religion and the prescribed rules of ritual.
Where you have no religion you are sure to have no government for as religion disappears anarchy takes place and fixes a compleat Hell on earth till religion returns.
I also like to look at the dynamic that takes place between religion and science because in a way both are asking the same questions: Who are we? Where do we come from? Why are we here? Where are we going? The methodologies are diametrically opposed but their motivation is the same the wellspring is the same in both cases.
A religion that takes no account of practical affairs and does not help to solve them is no religion.
I feel like in a lot of shows where the woman is in charge the woman is this ball buster and the guy is sort of weak and spineless. And that's never been my experience in a relationship. I think it's much more interesting that the guy is the boss. And there are stakes.
I can't get a relationship to last longer than it takes to make copies of their tapes.
It takes a lot of experience of life to see why some relationships last and others do not. But we do not have to wait for a crisis to get an idea of the future of a particular relationship. Our behavior in little every incidents tells us a great deal.
It takes two to make a relationship but only one to screw it up.
I think to make any relationship work it just takes a tremendous amount of effort and accepting of one another.
Every relationship has its own language. It takes a long time to evolve and read one another. Just as it's true for people it's also true on a national or cultural level.
As long as women are in the work force making their own money and decisions men are going to have to realize that this way of life is here to stay - because it takes two incomes to make it and more now. The sooner you address your style of saving and spending with your mate the better off your relationship will be.
It takes bravery to end a relationship.
I can't cultivate a relationship with my child if it's between takes. I tried that on a movie and realized 'This is not going to work.' It will work some of the year but not 12 months a year.
I do not think that Mulder trusts any one other than Scully. He s very solitary. She is the only one who takes him seriously. I don t know if they re in love. In a way their relationship is deeper than that because they cannot live without each other.
The super power that I would choose would be compassion. Because that's what I think it takes to make it through life-an understanding a give and take. It saves an awful lot of resentment.
Power never takes a back step only in the face of more power.
It takes tremendous discipline to control the influence the power you have over other people's lives.
This revolution the information revoultion is a revolution of free energy as well but of another kind: free intellectual energy. It's very crude today yet our Macintosh computer takes less power than a 100-watt bulb to run it and it can save you hours a day. What will it be able to do ten or 20 years from now or 50 years from now?
A sense is what has the power of receiving into itself the sensible forms of things without the matter in the way in which a piece of wax takes on the impress of a signet-ring without the iron or gold.
Only a man who knows what it is like to be defeated can reach down to the bottom of his soul and come up with the extra ounce of power it takes to win when the match is even.
Life's too short when you find yourself sitting in a car for four hours every day trying to get from East L.A. to West L.A. to Hollywood and then back to East L.A.
